Celebrating West Indian Leadership in Michigan, March 23rd

Caribbean Community Service Center will examine the historic leadership contributions of West Indian immigrants from 1885 and how it influences the present day. They will further address the concept of perception vs reality of West Indians relationships with African Americans based on pre-conceived ideas that we are different; with a conclusion that together we are stronger.

Panelists: Ian Ferguson Councilperson Lathrup Village (Jamaica): Gregoire Eugene-Louis Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (Haiti); Kirk Mayes CEO Forget Harvest (Jamaican-American); Dr. Eleanor Walker Henry Ford Hospital (Grenada).
Each panelist will let their story as it applies to their experience in Michigan’s political and leadership environment and tell why they choose this pathway.
